Minturn Wright

Minturn Wright’s 16 years of experience as an attorney have been almost equally divided between real estate transfers and other transactions on the one hand, and litigation (principally real estate, civil rights, and insurance defense) on the other. He also has had experience dealing with environmental issues, business entities, and trademark issues, particularly licensing. When he came to the Washington area from California, he worked in the Real Estate group at Mayer, Brown & Platt. He has done pro bono work for a wide range of non-profit and governmental organizations, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Maryland Association of Historic District Commissions, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and the Cleveland Park Club.

After assisting Brincefield, Hartnett & Kahn, P.C., with several projects over the preceding couple of years, Minturn joined the firm in 2004. He is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia (1997) and California (1987), as well as federal district courts in California and D.C., the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Minturn earned a B.S. in biology and lettered in crew at Yale. He received an M.S. in biology from the University of Southern California on the way to law school at U.S.C. His law dissertation concerned the ownership of Antarctica and its natural resources. After finishing law school, Minturn completed his graduate work, eventually earning a Ph.D. in biology, also from U.S.C. His work on natural antibiotics from marine invertebrates and on the larvae of calcareous tubeworms has nothing to do with anything he does these days.

In addition to being a lawyer, Minturn has taught college, made guest presentations at local schools, written articles for scientific journals, and participated in a number of academic and professional conferences and research expeditions. He is a great believer in participatory democracy, and encourages you to vote in every election. He probably will not be in the office on Election Day.
